Rob and Peter Fearnhead join ABC News’ Bob Woodruff at Concordia
Yesterday, Rob Walton (Chairman of African Parks Foundation of America), Peter Fearnhead (CEO of African Parks), and ABC News Correspondent Bob Woodruff came together at the Annual Concordia Summit to discuss solutions to the biodiversity and climate crisis. One key strategy? A public-private partnership model that involves governments, local communities, and African Parks in effectively managing protected areas.
This model is already in action across 22 protected areas in 12 countries, safeguarding over 77,000 square miles of Africa’s most vital ecosystems. Africa is home to 25% of the world’s remaining biodiversity, making its conservation crucial for building global climate resilience and protecting the health of our planet.
Now is the time to act! Effective management of Africa’s natural systems not only helps mitigate climate change, but it ensures that local communities continue to thrive through sustainable ecosystem services.
